Hello, my name is Jenny Spackman. I am the activity director for Gracious Senior Living Holland House in west Wichita near Kellogg and Ridge.

We are a home plus senior living facility, (four homes with eight rooms each, and one clubhouse), that currently houses 27 residents with many different levels of needs. I am hoping that by reaching out to the Wichita area home school community I can set up some ongoing inter-generational activities for my residents, you and your children.

I just moved to Wichita, but I have worked in this field for some time, and where I used to live (in Stillwater, Oklahoma) I had set up an ongoing program with a small group of homeschool students and their parents to come interact with my residents regularly. Because my residents don’t stay awake late in the evening, it worked out great for home school students to come in during the day and do all sorts of activities with them. In the past the home school students I have worked with played instruments, sang songs, lead Bible study and spiritual enrichment groups, did arts and craft activities, put on talent shows, became pen pals with my residents, simply visited, and a wide variety of other things that the residents, the families, or I came up with.

Myself, and my facility, would be happy to provide materials for any crafts or groups that are suggested, and are very flexible to fit you and your children into our calendar whenever it works best or you and your schedules.

We generally have activities in the morning (10:30-11:30) and the afternoon (3:30-4:30), but can add, change, or adjust those times according to when visits are set up.

I assure you that we are a safe, family friendly environment, are open to any sort of activities you or your children would be uniquely equipped to lead, and are simply looking for positive interaction with the Wichita (and surrounding) community.
