The workshop schedule will be included in your program and also on the website. Workshop seating will be on a first-come, first-seated basis. Please be considerate of other attendees by removing fussy or noisy children from any sessions. The sessions are being recorded. You may return when the child has quieted down.

Remember to fill out and turn in your Speaker Evaluation sheets this year!  We have several vendors who are contributing to a special drawing that will be held during the TPA Homeschool Convention.  Each workshop session we will be drawing names of those who have filled out the forms (and given them to a host/hostess).  The names of the winners will be posted near the Registration Table.  You will have to be present to receive your prize.  Prizes that are left when Convention is over will be donated to the TPA Library.

Workshop for First Time Convention Attendees

If you are a new homeschooler or a homeschooler who has never been to a homeschool convention, you may not understand the over excitement in your friends’ voices as they discuss the upcoming 2012 TPA Homeschool Convention.  However, once you’ve been to the Convention and have seen all the amazing products available for purchase in one giant hall and felt the energy and passion of the keynote and workshop speakers, you’ll understand exactly why your friends are already revved up and counting down the days to Friday, June 1st when the convention doors open.

As fun and exciting as the homeschool convention is, it can be a little overwhelming.  Between the noise of hundreds of homeschoolers “catching up” with each other, the huge hall filled with over one hundred exhibitors, and a schedule that boasts sixty workshops and three keynote addresses, the convention can send the first-time attendee into sensory overload and massive confusion in a matter of seconds.

While others are having the time of their lives, first-time attendees often feel lost and overwhelmed.  Because TPA doesn’t want anyone to have this type of convention experience, a special workshop is held on Thursday evening from 7:00pm to 9:00pm for families who have never before attended a homeschool convention. The Thursday night workshop is designed to help first-time convention attendees navigate their way through the convention with ease, so they, too, can have the time of their lives.

Workshop selection will be discussed, and individualized help will be given to those still trying to determine where their needs will be best met.  Exhibitors and their products will be highlighted, and the TPA Convention staff will be introduced.  At the end of the evening, these staff members will be available to answer questions families may have with regard to the convention or homeschooling, in general.  If you’ve never been to a homeschool convention, you won’t want to miss the First-Time Attendees Workshop on Thursday, May 31st.  It’s FREE.  It’s fun!
