Workshop: “What is Lap booking?” Make it take it workshop
When: September 9th, 2010 7:00pm -9:00pm
Location: New Foundation Community Church
1116 W 30th Street South, Wichita, KS 67217-2456 (located on Seneca between 31st and Pawnee).
Speaker: Kim Chase
This make it take it class will show you that Lap booking can be done by any learner for any subject. With this educational method, you make mini-books covering details that you have studied. After making a variety of minibooks about a larger topic, all the books are put together in a large folder. Sometimes there are a collection of minibooks, you make, flaps, folded display material, drawings, graphs, etc. This workshop will help you get a better understanding of how easily lapbook that can be used in your home school, what exactly they are, how to make them, who benefits from using them, supplies needed, and, of course, some great tips and tricks for getting started. Lap books can be used as a tool as your children refer to it over and over again.
You must sign up ahead of time, so that the materials can be there for your use. Limit of 25 for this class, the last one filled up fast.
Supplies you will need to bring glue sticks, scissors, sharpies, markers, pencils, ruler, double stick tape (optional), stapler(optional), and color pencils.
Cost: is$10 non-TPA member, $8 TPA-member per person. This will cover materials and class.

Workshop: The Struggling Learner
Speaker: Amie Clendenin
When: Thursday, September 30th, 2010 7:00pm-9:00pm
Location: New Foundation Community Church
1116 W 30th Street South, Wichita, KS 67217-2456 (located on Seneca between 31st and Pawnee).
Amie Clendenin, homeschool mom of 3, shares insight with an intimate knowledge of learning disorders. You will come away encouraged with the knowledge that you can successfully remediate your child at home. Amie is passionate about equipping parents to be effective teachers to their smart, but struggling kids. She offers answers, hope, and encouragement for struggling moms. She will share teaching tips and techniques at this workshop. Amie said, “I am blessed to be able to share what I have learned with other moms. This is a childhood epidemic that we are fighting and parents need to know how they can help their children. “
Cost: is$10 non-TPA member, $8 TPA-member per person. (Spouse is free either way)

Workshop: Time Management- How Can I Get It All Done?”
Speaker: Valory Harrison

Location: Crosswinds Community Church, 1125 South Rock Road, Derby, KS 67037-3975. The church is located on Rock Road just south of Chet Smith on the west side of the street. There is a big rock in front near the street.

Do you feel like you can’t juggle all the balls without losing your marbles? Then what you need is a TPA mini-workshop called “Time Management- How Can I Get It All Done?” taught by Valory Harrison! Thursday, October 7th, Valory will encourage you and equip you with lots of tools to keep those balls in the air while you pick up the marbles you dropped on the floor! Valory is a local homeschooling mom of seven children ranging in age from 10 months to 16 years. She’s been a public speaker to women’s groups for eighteen years and is passionate about helping moms believe, not in themselves, but in a mighty God who has called them to a mighty task for Him- the raising of Godly arrows in a spiritual war that is worth the fight! Ladies, you can do it! And Valory is going to help show you how, with practical step-by-step methods to not just keep your sanity but to succeed in your role of homeschool mom! Bring a notebook, pen, and your questions too!
