The Teaching Parents Association is pleased to offer an opportunity for you to participate in a wonderful educational youth concert series presented by the Wichita Symphony.
2009 Homeschool Graduation Information
Its that time of year again to begin planning for graduation. The following are important dates for the 2009 graduation, (All meetings conducted at Central Christian Church unless otherwise specified):
• Friday, October 3, 2008 – Initial Informational Meeting 7:00 PM
• November 13, 2008 – Student Presentation Auditions 6:30 PM
• January 23, 2009 – Informational Meeting for ALL interested families and DEADLINE to participate 7:00 PM
• February 11, 2009 – All fees to participate in graduation are due, Senior Wallet Size Pictures Due, Bios for Program Booklet Due
• May 7, 2009 – All graduate rehearsal MANDATORY 7:00 PM
• May 9, 2009 – Graduation 1:00 PM

2009 Convention - May 29-30!
The 2009 TPA Convention Committee is hard at work planning the convention. Our keynote speaker will be Chris Klicka. Please check back for more information as we finalize our plans. Our main objective is that the 2009 convention weekend will be a blessing to all those who attend!
TPA Sponsoring Miller Pads and Paper Art Seminar
On September 26th, 2008 from 6:00-900 at the Sedgwick County Extension Office, Renee Miller of Miller Pads and Paper will be giving a workshop entitled Art: The Glue That Makes It Stick. This workshop will encourage and equip parents to use art in all subject areas to enhance your homeschooling curriculum and make learning more enjoyable. Miller Pads and Paper will bring along all their art supplies and curriculum. There will be time to shop and interact with the Millers before and after the workshop, which is approximately one hour, from 7:00-8:00. Refreshments will be served. Come and enjoy an encouraging evening.

Cost: $15/family Make checks payable to TPA and mail to TPA, 4673 S. Washington Ct, Wichita, KS, 67216, postmarked by September 18th. Put Miller Art Tour in the memo line. Please note that this workshop is geared towards adults. Children are welcome but there are not activities specifically for them.

Fire Safety Day
The second annual Homeschool Safety Awareness Day will be held at the Northeast YMCA (off of K-96 and Woodlawn, to the east of Home Depot) on Thursday, October 9th from 10:00-3:00. This is a free event for all ages. Various city and county organizations will be providing a variety of educational activities. You will be able to participate in activities and view demonstrations at your leisure. There is not a set agenda so come and go according to your schedule. Although a free event, please with the number of adults and children coming so that we may plan accordingly.
